東大、３６位に上昇＝日本勢、上位に２校だけ－英教育誌番付

　【ロンドン時事】英教育専門誌タイムズ・ハイヤー・エデュケーション（ＴＨＥ）は１１日、２０２０年版の「世界大学ランキング」を発表した。英米の大学が上位を占める中、東大は３６位タイ（前年は４２位）に上昇した。ただ、日本勢は全体的に振るわず、上位２００位以内に入ったのは前年同様に２校のみだった。
　世界全体の１位は４年連続で英オックスフォード大が維持。２位は米カリフォルニア工科大（同５位）、３位は英ケンブリッジ大（同２位）と続いた。アジア勢の最上位は２３位の中国・清華大（同２２位）、これに続いたのも２４位の北京大（同３１位）だった。
　日本勢で東大に続いたのは６５位の京都大（同６５位）。上位２００位以内はこの２校のみで、中国勢の７校、韓国勢の６校に劣った。
　日本勢の不振は国際性の欠如や論文引用数の少なさなどが主因。一方で、同誌は中国勢の台頭を指摘し、「中国は今やアジアの最上位２校の本拠地となった」と述べた。
　ランキングは９２カ国・地域の約１４００校を対象に実施。教育や研究の質、論文引用数、国際性など１３の項目で各大学を数値化した。（2019/09/12-08:32）

The University of Tokyo rose to 36th from 42nd in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020, announced Wednesday.
   The number of Japanese universities in the top 200 slots stood at only two, unchanged from the previous year, according to the latest annual rankings by the Times Higher Education, a British magazine.
   Top slots of the list were occupied mainly by universities in Britain and the United States.
   The University of Oxford in Britain topped the list for the fourth consecutive year. The California Institute of Technology in the United States came second, up from fifth, and the University of Cambridge in Britain ranked third, down from second.
   Among universities in Asia, China's Tsinghua University ranked highest, at 23rd, down from 22nd. Peking University, also in China, came 24th, up from 31st.
