米・イラン仲介外交に意欲＝安倍首相、ニューヨークに出発

　安倍晋三首相は２３日、国連総会出席などのため、米ニューヨークへ政府専用機で出発した。滞在中、首相はイランのロウハニ大統領と会談し、中東情勢の安定化に向けて協議。トランプ米大統領とは日米貿易協定署名を目指す。２６日にベルギー・ブリュッセルに移動し、アジアと欧州連合（ＥＵ）の関係強化に関する会議で基調講演した後、２８日に帰国する。
　出発に先立ち、首相は日イラン首脳会談に関し「（中東）地域の緊張緩和、情勢の安定化に向けて、率直かつ真剣な意見交換を行いたい」と表明。トランプ氏との会談でも「北朝鮮や中東情勢について緊密な連携を確認したい」と述べ、両国の仲介に意欲を示した。羽田空港で記者団の質問に答えた。
　首相とロウハニ師の会談は２４日で９回目となる。今月中旬のサウジアラビア石油施設への攻撃について、米国はイランの関与を主張し、両国の軍事衝突の懸念が高まっている。首相は６月のイラン訪問時に続いて再び仲介を試み、緊張緩和につなげたい考えだ。
　日イラン首脳会談に続いて、首相は２５日にトランプ氏と会談。ロウハニ師との会談内容を説明するとともに、日米間の懸案について協議する。大詰めを迎える日米貿易協定交渉では、自動車への追加関税を回避すると同時に、自動車部品を含む工業品の関税撤廃・削減をどこまで勝ち取れるかが焦点だ。（2019/09/23-16:02）

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe left for New York on Monday to attend a U.N. General Assembly session and hold meetings with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and U.S. President Donald Trump.
   After the New York visit, Abe will move to Brussels on Thursday and deliver a speech at a meeting on strengthening relations between Asia and the European Union.
   Abe hopes to discuss with Rouhani stabilizing the situation in the Middle East at their meeting on Tuesday, at a time when concerns about a military clash between Iran and the United States are growing as Washington claims Tehran's involvement in attacks on oil facilities in Saudi Arabia earlier this month.
   The Japanese leader will try again to mediate between the two sides to de-escalate the tensions, after he held talks with Rouhani and Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, during his visit to Iran in June. The upcoming Abe-Rouhani meeting will be the ninth.
   At his meeting with Trump on Wednesday, Abe will explain the outcome of his talks with Rouhani.
