中学理科、実験２割減　背景にコロナ影響も―学力テスト

　全国学力・学習状況調査（全国学力テスト）では、学校や児童生徒に対し、新型コロナウイルスの影響を尋ねるアンケート調査も実施された。「理科の授業で、週１回以上観察や実験をする」と回答した中学校の割合は、２０１８年度の前回調査から約２割減少。文部科学省は「コロナの影響で児童生徒が近い距離で行う観察や実験を控えた結果、数が減ったのではないか」と分析している。
　アンケートは前年度の理科の授業で、１クラス当たりどの程度観察や実験を行ったかを調べた。「週１回以上」と回答したのは小学校が４４．９％（前回６１．１％）、中学校が４５．８％（同６４．６％）にとどまった。
　一方で、理科に対する児童生徒の関心は上昇した。「理科の勉強が好きか」との質問に肯定的な回答をした中学３年の割合は、前回より３．５ポイント高い６６．４％となった。「理科の勉強は大切だと思うか」との問いにも、前回より６．２ポイント高い７７．１％が肯定的に回答した。文科省の担当者は「指導改善など教育現場の努力により、児童生徒の関心が向上したのではないか」と推測した。
　調査結果からは、新型コロナの影響で子どもと地域のつながりに影響が出ていることもうかがえた。「地域の行事に参加しているか」との問いに肯定的に回答した割合は小６で５２．５％、中３で３９．５％だった。コロナ前の１９年度に実施した調査での回答は小６が６７．８％、中３が４９．９％で減少傾向が続いている。
　ただ、コロナ禍の影響による休校は少なく、約９５％の小中学校が２１年度の休校日数を「１０日未満」と回答した。文科省は「休校日数と各教科の平均正答率との間に相関関係は見られなかった」としている。（2022/07/29-07:06）

Japanese children had fewer opportunities to conduct science experiments at schools amid the novel coronavirus crisis, a government survey showed Thursday.
   In the survey, elementary and junior high schools were asked how often observations and experiments as part of science lessons took place per class in fiscal 2021.
   The proportion of elementary schools where the frequency was once a week or more stood at 44.9 pct, down from 61.1 pct in the previous fiscal 2018 survey. The share came to 45.8 pct for junior high schools, down from 64.6 pct.
   The education ministry said that schools may have reduced observations and experiments, which bring students physically closer, to curb infection risk.
   The survey, conducted as part of this year's nationwide academic achievement test for elementary school sixth graders and junior high school third graders, also showed that children are more enthusiastic about studying science.
