参院選、１０日投開票　各党最後の訴えへ【２２参院選】

　第２６回参院選は１０日、投開票される。ウクライナ危機や物価高への対応、安全保障政策の見直しを主な争点に各党が舌戦を展開。昨年１０月に就任した岸田文雄首相（自民党総裁）の９カ月余りの政権運営に審判が下される。
　選挙戦は８日昼前、自民党の安倍晋三元首相が街頭演説中に銃撃された事件を受け、首相や閣僚が直ちに遊説を中止。自民、立憲民主、公明、日本維新の会、国民民主の各党幹部も遊説を取りやめた。各党は、言論を暴力で封殺する蛮行は許されないなどと一斉に非難した。選挙戦最終日の９日、各党は選挙運動を予定通り行う。
　参院選には改選１２４（選挙区７４、比例代表５０）と神奈川選挙区の欠員１の補充を合わせた計１２５議席をめぐり、選挙区３６７人、比例代表１７８人の計５４５人が立候補した。投票は一部地域を除き、１０日午後８時に締め切られて即日開票。同日深夜にも大勢が判明する見通し。
　参院の総定数は今回から３増えて２４８で、全体の過半数は１２５。首相は自公両党で非改選の７０も含めて過半数となる５５議席以上を勝敗ラインに掲げた。立民は改選２３議席の維持を目標とする。
　自公と憲法改正に前向きな維新、国民の「改憲勢力」が計８２議席以上を獲得すれば、参院で改憲発議に必要な定数の３分の２に当たる１６６議席に達する。（2022/07/09-07:17）

Japanese politicians will resume campaigning for Sunday's House of Councillors election after stopping their activities Friday following the fatal shooting of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
   In the national poll, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will face the verdict of voters on his government management since he took office in October last year.
   Key issues in the election for the upper chamber of the Diet, Japan's parliament, include the Russian invasion of Ukraine, soaring prices and Japan's security policy.
   On Friday morning, Abe was shot while giving a stump speech for a ruling Liberal Democratic Party candidate running in the Upper House race in the western prefecture of Nara. He was later confirmed dead.
   Abe, Japan's longest-serving prime minister and the leader of the LDP's biggest faction, was traveling across the country to deliver stump speeches as he had strong influence even after stepping down as the country's leader in September 2020.
