平和願い「トーチキス」　被爆者ら、リレー中止の広島―東京五輪

　新型コロナウイルス対策の緊急事態宣言が発令される中、公道での聖火リレーが中止となった広島県では１７日、広島市の平和記念公園で聖火ランナーによる点火セレモニーが行われた。被爆者のランナーも参加し、原爆ドームを前に、平和への願いを込めトーチをつないだ。
　一般客を入れずに行われたセレモニーでランナーらは、平和記念資料館と慰霊碑の間で、トーチを重ね合わせる「トーチキス」により次々と聖火を受け渡した。
　原爆で２歳上の姉を亡くし、自身も爆心地から１．８キロの地点で被爆した梶矢文昭さん（８２）＝広島市安佐南区＝も参加した。「死没者に対して慰霊するとともに、これからも平和が続くようにと祈りを込めてトーチを掲げたい」と意気込み、家の周辺を日々約２キロ歩くなど練習を続けてきた。
　梶矢さんは、１９６４年の東京五輪の柔道で金メダルを獲得した中谷雄英さん（７９）からトーチキスを受け、並んで慰霊碑に一礼した。セレモニー終了後、梶矢さんは「慰霊の気持ちをささげた」と満ち足りた様子を見せ、「（核兵器を）３度目は絶対にどこの国にも使わせてはならないと子どもたちに話したい」と決意を新たにした。
　一方、マスターズ陸上競技の１００～１０４歳の部で日本記録を持つ被爆者、冨久正二さん（１０４）＝同県三次市＝は、感染拡大を受け参加を取りやめた。聖火ランナーに決定後は、トーチの模型を使うなどして、陸上仲間らの支えも受けながらトレーニングに打ち込んできた。
　冨久さんは「走るためここまで頑張ってきたので、非常に残念。コロナさえなければという思いはある」と無念さをあらわにした。それでも、「精神的な健康のためにも、陸上人生を謳歌（おうか）したい」と今後について話した。（2021/05/17-20:35）

The Tokyo Olympic flame was passed round by torchbearers in a ceremony in Hiroshima Prefecture on Monday, held behind closed doors in response to a surge in novel coronavirus infection cases in the western Japan prefecture.
   An Olympic torch was lit in the ceremony in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park in the city of Hiroshima, the prefecture's capital. The event came in line with the cancellation of the Olympic torch relay on public roads in the prefecture amid the virus crisis.
   Torchbearers passed along the flame, together with hopes for peace, in an area between the cenotaph for victims of the Aug. 6, 1945, U.S. atomic bombing of the city and the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, with the Atomic Bomb Dome, a structure that survived the nuclear attack in the closing days of World War II, in the background.
   Fumiaki Kajiya, one of the torchbearers, was exposed to radiation from the bombing at a point 1.8 kilometers from ground zero. The 82-year-old resident of the city lost his sister, who was two years older than him, in the bombing.
   Kajiya had prepared for the torch relay by walking about 2 kilometers a day around his house, among other things. "I want to hold the torch high, consoling the souls of the dead and hoping that peace will last," he has said.
