闘病中の子どもに「星空」を＝全国の病院で上映２３０回－移動式プラネタリウム

　入院する小児病棟の子どもたちに「星空」を届ける人たちがいる。「星は人に励ましを与える。宇宙の存在を知ることは大事」。山梨県北杜市の一般社団法人「星つむぎの村」（高橋真理子共同代表）は全国の病院などで、移動式プラネタリウムによる上映会を続けている。
　新潟市内の病院の講堂。空気で膨らませた簡易ドームの中で３日、闘病中の子どもと保護者ら数人があおむけに寝転んでいた。「日本中の明かりが消えたらどうなるのでしょう」。２年前に小児がんで娘を失ったという同法人のボランティア大和紀子さん（４７）が語り始めると、投影機がドームいっぱいに星を映し出した。きらきらと瞬く「星空」に、「おお」「わあ」と歓声が上がった。
　「星つむぎの村」は、山梨県立科学館の元天文担当職員だった高橋さんが２０１６年に立ち上げた。「星を介して人と人をつなぐ」との目標を掲げ、月に数回から十数回、全国の病院などを飛び回る。
　上映会のたび、山梨県から重さ２０～４０キロの投影機やドームを乗用車や宅配便で各地に運ぶ。感染症の恐れなどで病院の外に出られない子どもも多く、高橋さんは「みんな喜んでくれる。やってみてライフワークと思った」と語る。
　自宅療養中の患者にはプロジェクターを貸し出し、インターネット回線を通じて、高橋さんらが「星空」の解説をする活動もしている。
　「（宇宙の誕生から）長い時を経ていま自分がここにいるというメッセージを伝えたい」と高橋さん。上映会は全国約１６０カ所、延べ２３０回に上り、入院中の子どもら１万２０００人以上を楽しませてきた。これからも多くの人に「光」を届ける。（2019/09/24-13:35）

A nonprofit organization in Hokuto in Yamanashi Prefecture, central Japan, has been cheering up children fighting diseases by showing them starry skies with a portable planetarium.
   In a hospital lecture room in the city of Niigata early this month, children battling illnesses and their parents laid on their backs in a portable planetarium dome pumped up with air.
   "What if the lights across Japan were turned off?" Noriko Yamato, a 47-year-old volunteer worker who lost her daughter two years ago due to childhood cancer, started by saying. When the projector showed stars dotted all over the dome, the children shouted in delight.
   The organization, Hoshi Tsumugi no Mura, was launched in 2016 by Mariko Takahashi, who was then a worker in charge of space science at Yamanashi Prefectural Science Center. Under the theme of "connecting people through stars," it visits several to dozen hospitals across the country a month.
   For each show, the organization transports a projector and a dome weighing between 20 to 40 kilograms by car or delivery service from Yamanashi.
