岸田首相、防衛費増表明へ　バイデン米大統領が来日―２３日首脳会談

　岸田文雄首相は２３日、バイデン米大統領と会談する。厳しさを増す東アジアの安全保障環境を踏まえ、防衛費を増額する意向を伝える方向だ。両首脳は米国の「核の傘」を含む拡大抑止の重要性を確認し、日米同盟の強化で一致する見通し。
　バイデン氏は２２日夕、大統領専用機で米軍横田基地（東京都福生市など）に到着した。大統領としての来日は初めて。２４日にはオーストラリア、インドを交えた４カ国「クアッド」首脳会議を行う。（2022/05/22-21:13）

U.S. President Joe Biden arrived in Japan on Sunday afternoon, his first trip to the Asian country as president.
   The president flew to the U.S. military's Yokota base in western Tokyo aboard Air Force One.
   On Monday, Biden will hold talks with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
   The prime minister is expected to tell the president that Japan plans to boost its defense expenditures in response to the increasingly severe security environment in East Asia. The two leaders are likely to affirm the importance of extended deterrence backed by the U.S. nuclear umbrella and agree on the strengthening of the Japan-U.S. alliance.
   On Tuesday, a summit of the Quad countries of Japan, the United States, Australia and India will be held in the Japanese capital.
