森氏進退に厳しい見方　国内外の批判受け―政府・与党

　女性蔑視発言をした東京五輪・パラリンピック組織委員会の森喜朗会長の進退をめぐり、政府・与党から１０日、「もうもたない」などと厳しい見方が相次いだ。国内外の批判が収まらないことに加え、小池百合子東京都知事が月内に予定されている東京五輪のトップ級４者会談への欠席を表明したことが影響しているとみられる。
　国際オリンピック委員会（ＩＯＣ）は９日、森氏の発言に関し「完全に不適切」との声明を発表。森氏が４日に発言を謝罪、撤回した後、「これをもって問題が終わった」と幕引きを図ったが、その姿勢を転換させた。小池氏は１０日、森氏とバッハＩＯＣ会長、橋本聖子五輪担当相との４者会談について、「いま４者会談してもポジティブな発信にならない」と欠席を表明した。
　菅義偉首相の周辺は、森氏の発言について「海外で問題になっている。欧米ではあり得ない」とした上で、「このままではもたない」と指摘。自民党の閣僚経験者も「外堀が埋まりつつある。厳しい状況だ」と語った。
　１０日の衆院予算委員会では、立憲民主党の田嶋要氏らが４者会談をめぐり「森会長自身が出席するのか」と繰り返し追及。橋本氏は「会長の出席は組織委が決める」と、森氏の出席を明言しなかった。会談の開催自体が未定との認識も示した。
　政権幹部らは、組織委に判断を委ねる姿勢を重ねて示した。加藤勝信官房長官は記者会見で「（進退は）組織委が判断されるべきもの」と強調。自民党の野田聖子幹事長代行は会見で、１２日に開かれる組織委の臨時会合に触れ「そこで多くの声を受け止め、方向性を示してもらいたい」と述べるにとどめた。
　一方、野党は国対委員長会談で、「組織委で対応する次元を超えている。首相のリーダーシップが問われる」との認識で一致。立憲の安住淳国対委員長は記者団に「森会長の辞任は当然の認識だ」と語った。（2021/02/11-07:18）

Japanese government and ruling party officials on Wednesday took a harsh view on the fate of Yoshiro Mori, president of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics organizing committee, over his recent derogatory remarks about women.
   A source close to Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga said that Mori will not be able to withstand the pressure, noting that the verbal blunder has also been slammed overseas and that someone in a high-ranking position in Western countries never makes such remarks. A Liberal Democratic Party official who previously served as a cabinet minister said that Mori is "embattled" and that the situation is severe.
   These views came as anger is growing both in and outside Japan over Mori, who said in a meeting of the Japanese Olympic Committee last week that meetings with a lot of women tend to be time-consuming.
   The International Olympic Committee on Tuesday reversed its earlier stance that the issue has been settled, criticizing in a statement Mori's remarks as "absolutely inappropriate."
   On Wednesday, Tokyo governor Yuriko Koike said she would skip a planned four-way meeting among her, Mori, IOC President Thomas Bach and Seiko Hashimoto, Japanese minister for the Tokyo Games, saying that such a gathering "won't send a positive message given the current situation."
