日立、米カリフォルニア州で列車制御システム受注　８４０億円

　【ニューヨーク時事】日立製作所は１日、鉄道事業の米グループ会社が、米カリフォルニア州のサンフランシスコ・ベイエリア高速鉄道公社（ＢＡＲＴ）と、列車制御システムの更新事業を７億９８００万ドル（約８４０億円）で契約したと発表した。
　約５０年前に作られた現在のシステムを更新して列車の運行を効率化し、１時間当たり３万人超が見込まれるピーク時の需要に対応できるようにする。同事業によって、約５００人の新規雇用を見込む。　
　ＢＡＲＴは現在、平日に１日平均４０万５０００人が利用している。ＢＡＲＴの担当者は「５０年来の制御システムを更新・近代化することで、今後数十年にわたる乗客の利益になる」と期待を示した。（2020/10/02-08:17）

Hitachi Unit Seals Train System Renewal Deal in California

Hitachi Ltd. said Thursday that U.S. affiliate Hitachi Rail STS USA Inc. has concluded a 798-million-dollar train system renewal deal with San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District, or BART, in California.
BART's existing train control system, which is about 50 years old, will be replaced with Hitachi's new Communications-Based Train Control system, so BART can meet the projected peak demand of over 30,000 passengers per hour, the Japanese company said.
