東京マラソン、一般参加中止に　新型肺炎の影響、五輪選考は実施

　東京マラソン財団は１７日、新型コロナウイルスによる肺炎の感染拡大を考慮し、３月１日に開催予定だった今年の大会の一般参加を全面的に中止すると発表した。２００７年に始まった東京マラソンで初めてとなる。
　一般参加の対象者は約３万８０００人。東京五輪男子マラソン代表選考を兼ねるエリート部門は予定通り実施する。
　同財団はこれまで、新型肺炎対策として参加者へのマスク配布や給食物の個別包装化などを示していたが、感染拡大に歯止めがかかっていない現状を踏まえ「確実な安全性確保は困難」（広報担当者）と判断した。対象者には来年３月７日の次回大会の参加資格を認める。ただし、来年も参加料の支払いは必要になり、規約に基づき今年の参加料は返金しない。今年のフルマラソンの参加料は国内在住者が１万６２００円、海外在住者が１万８２００円だった。
　３月１日に行うのは男女のエリート部門と車いすのエリート部門のみで、合計約２００人がエントリー。同財団は「（感染症の）安全対策をして実施したい」としている。（2020/02/17-19:52）

Tokyo Marathon's organizers have decided to exclude runners from the general public from the event set for March 1 amid the coronavirus outbreak, sources familiar with the matter said Monday.
   Nearly 40,000 people from the general public have entries for the race.
   The event will only feature elite athletes, a race set to serve as a qualifier for the men's marathon event in the Tokyo Olympics in summer.
   For this year's Tokyo Marathon, the organizers had drawn up measures to prevent the spread of the virus, such as the distribution of face masks and sanitizing wipes.
   They had also encouraged registered runners from China, where the virus has been spreading, to refrain from the race by allowing them to join next year's event for free.
