上皇后さま、８９歳に　外出機会増加、体力低下も

　上皇后さまは２０日、８９歳の誕生日を迎えられた。赤坂御用地（東京都港区）内の仙洞御所に移って１年半が経過。側近によると、規則正しく生活し、穏やかな日々を過ごしている。コロナ禍で極力控えてきた外出は、５月に感染法上の位置付けが「５類」に移行後に少しずつ増加。ただ、体力低下が進み、上皇さま（８９）がしばしば体調を案じているという。
　ご夫妻で５月に京都府と奈良県を訪れ、７月に栃木県の那須御用邸、８月に長野県軽井沢町で静養。いずれも４年ぶりだった。都内や近郊では、２月に横浜市で沖縄復帰５０周年記念展を、６月に国立劇場で琉球舞踊の人間国宝、志田房子さんの特別公演を鑑賞。９月には千代田区で関東大震災１００年の特別展を鑑賞後、キリノ元フィリピン大統領の顕彰碑を見学した。
　仙洞御所では、季節の虫や草花を楽しみ、朝夕の散策や朝食後の音読を継続。本もよく読み、最近は古川安氏著「津田梅子　科学への道、大学の夢」、辺見じゅん氏著「収容所（ラーゲリ）から来た遺書」などを側近が届けた。
　午後に少し熱が上がる症状は３年以上続き、心不全の診断指標であるＢＮＰ値も正常値を超えた状態にある。歩行時に立ち止まることがあり、上皇さまが「大丈夫？」と声を掛けている。昨年８月に診断された右膝下の深部静脈血栓症は運動や水分摂取で落ち着いている。
　誕生日の祝賀行事は昨年と同様、仙洞御所で簡素な形で実施。面会を望む声があり、出席者は昨年よりやや増えるという。（2023/10/20-00:10）

Japanese Empress Emerita Michiko, wife of Emperor Emeritus Akihito, turned 89 on Friday, living a regular and peaceful life.
   She currently lives in Sento Gosho after she moved to the Imperial residence in Tokyo's Minato Ward one and a half years ago.
   She had refrained from going out during the novel coronavirus crisis. But she has been taking a few more opportunities to do so after the government in May lowered the classification of COVID-19 to Category V under the infectious disease control law, matching seasonal influenza.
   However, the 89-year-old Emperor Emeritus is concerned about the health condition of his wife, whose psychical strength is deteriorating, her aides said.
   In May, the couple visited the western Japan prefectures of Nara and Kyoto for the first time in four years.
