上皇后さまが退院＝乳がん摘出手術終え

　８日に乳がんの摘出手術を受けた上皇后さま（８４）は１０日午後、東大病院（東京都文京区）を退院された。宮内庁によると、手術後の経過はおおむね順調で、食欲も戻りつつあるという。今後の治療は摘出した組織を検査した上で検討される。

　午後２時すぎに病院を出た上皇后さまは、瀬戸泰之院長や執刀医を務めた乳腺・内分泌外科の田辺真彦科長らに「お世話になりました」とあいさつ。報道陣から「ご退院おめでとうございます」と声を掛けられると「ありがとう」と笑顔で応じ、迎えの車に乗り込んだ。（2019/09/10-17:07）

Japanese Empress Emerita Michiko was discharged from the University of Tokyo Hospital on Tuesday after successful surgery to remove cancer in her left breast on Sunday.
   The former Empress has been doing well since the operation, gradually regaining her appetite, the Imperial Household Agency said. Her future treatments will be decided on after the removed tissue is analyzed.
   The Empress Emerita thanked hospital head Yasuyuki Seto and operating surgeon Masahiko Tanabe when she left the hospital shortly past 2 p.m. (5 a.m. GMT). She also said, "Thank you," to reporters before getting into a car.
   The Empress Emerita was found to have a lump on her left mammary gland in regular health checkups July 12. She was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in a tissue examination Aug. 2, and admitted to the hospital Saturday for the surgery.
   Her cancer, about one centimeter in size, was removed in breast conservation surgery. She was diagnosed with stage 1 cancer with no signs of metastasis.
