Ｈ２Ｂロケット発射台で火災＝こうのとり８号機搭載－打ち上げ中止・種子島

　１１日午前３時５分ごろ、鹿児島県・種子島宇宙センターで打ち上げ準備中だったＨ２Ｂロケット８号機の発射台付近で火災が発生した。火は約２時間後にほぼ消し止められたが、打ち上げを担当する三菱重工業は、ロケット本体などへの影響を確認するのに時間がかかるとして、同６時３３分に予定していた打ち上げを中止した。
　三菱重工によると、火災が起きたのはロケットを支える移動発射台の底部。発射時にメインエンジンと４本の補助ロケットから出る煙や炎を逃すために設けられた開口部付近とみられる。
　火災発生時、燃料の液体酸素と液体水素の充填（じゅうてん）を終え、発射前の点検作業を行っていた。燃料漏れを検知するモニターに異常はなかった。

　この発射台は１～７号機でも使用されており、同社幹部は、これまで火災が原因で打ち上げが中止されたケースはないと説明。燃料を抜き取って安全を確認した上で、原因究明を進めるという。
　Ｈ２Ｂ・８号機は国際宇宙ステーション（ＩＳＳ）に物資を運ぶ宇宙航空研究開発機構（ＪＡＸＡ）の無人補給機「こうのとり」８号機を搭載。ＩＳＳに滞在中の宇宙飛行士らに生活物資や実験機器などを届ける予定だった。ＪＡＸＡによると、ＩＳＳには食糧などの備蓄は十分あり、打ち上げが延期されても当面は影響がないという。
　同ロケットは１０日午後に組み立て棟から発射地点に移動。同日夜から機体の点検など打ち上げに向けた最終準備を進めていた。（2019/09/11-09:44）

A fire broke out near the launch pad of an H-2 B rocket at the Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima Prefecture, southwestern Japan, in the small hours of Wednesday, forcing the liftoff of the rocket to be called off.
   The fire, which occurred around 3:05 a.m. (6:05 p.m. Tuesday GMT), was almost extinguished in some two hours.
   Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. , which is in charge of the rocket project, canceled the launch, scheduled for 6:33 a.m., saying it will take time to examine the impact of the fire on the rocket.
   According to the Japanese company, the fire is believed to have broken out near an opening at the bottom of the mobile launch pad. The opening is designed for the escape of smoke and fire emitted from the rocket's main engine and four rocket boosters.
   When the fire broke out, a prelaunch inspection was under way after the rocket, the H-2B Launch Vehicle No. 8 carrying an unmanned cargo spacecraft, was filled with liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen as fuel. There was no abnormality indicated in the monitor to detect fuel leakage.
