楽天、無料サービスの募集開始＝５千人限定、本格参入は来春－携帯電話事業

　楽天は１日、携帯電話事業で無料サービスの利用者募集を始めた。東京、名古屋、大阪などの大都市圏に住む５０００人に絞って、１０月中にサービスを始める。ネットワークの安定性を確認するのが狙いで、本格的なサービス開始は来春に遅れる見通しだ。
　申し込みはインターネットのみで７日まで受け付ける。東京２３区、名古屋市、大阪市、神戸市に住む１８歳以上が対象。楽天が指定するスマートフォンを保有していれば、契約者は２０２０年３月末まで無料で通話とデータ通信ができる。
　楽天は１０月１日に携帯電話事業に参入すると表明していたが、準備が間に合わず、本格サービスの実施を延期。具体的な時期も公表していない。三木谷浩史会長兼社長は９月６日の記者会見で「１カ月後かもしれないし、３カ月後かもしれない」と述べるにとどめた。（2019/10/01-13:31）

Subscription Starts for Rakuten's Free Mobile Service

Major Japanese cybermall operator Rakuten Inc. on Tuesday started accepting subscriptions for its free mobile phone service intended to confirm the stability of its network for the service.
Subscriptions will be received online until Monday. The company plans to begin offering the free voice and data communications service within this month for a total of 5,000 people aged 18 or over in Tokyo's 23 special wards and three other major cities in the country--Nagoya, Osaka and Kobe.
