ガーシー前参院議員、逮捕　ドバイからの直行便で帰国―著名人らを常習的脅迫疑い・警視庁

　動画投稿サイトで著名人らを繰り返し脅迫したなどとして、警視庁捜査２課は４日、暴力行為法違反（常習的脅迫）などの疑いで、滞在先のアラブ首長国連邦（ＵＡＥ）のドバイから帰国した前参院議員ガーシー（本名・東谷義和）容疑者（５１）を逮捕した。同課は認否を明らかにしていない。
　東谷容疑者は午後５時すぎ、ＵＡＥからの直行便で成田空港に到着。同庁などは５月下旬、捜査員数人をＵＡＥに派遣し、現地当局に早期の送還を働き掛けていた。
　警察当局が４月、国際刑事警察機構（ＩＣＰＯ）を通じて国際手配していた。東谷容疑者の旅券は同月に失効しており、現地で不法滞在状態になっていたとみられる。
　逮捕容疑は昨年２月下旬～８月上旬ごろ、ＵＡＥなどからユーチューブに投稿した動画で、著名人ら３人とその親族に対し、「とことんやってきたことをさらします」などと脅迫した疑い。うち１人については、事業から撤退するよう要求し業務を妨害した疑い。
　同庁は昨年１０～１２月、著名人らから告訴状を受理。複数回にわたり東谷容疑者に任意の事情聴取を要請したが、応じなかったことから３月、暴力行為法違反と威力業務妨害の疑いで逮捕状を取得するなどしていた。（2023/06/04-23:02）

Tokyo police arrested former Japanese lawmaker GaaSyy on Sunday on charges including violation of the law against violence.
   The Metropolitan Police Department arrested 51-year-old GaaSyy, whose real name is Yoshikazu Higashitani, upon his return from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
   The police placed GaaSyy on an international wanted list through Interpol in April. As his passport was revoked in April, GaaSyy was believed to have been staying in the UAE illegally.
   GaaSyy won a parliamentary seat for the first time in the July 2022 election for the House of Councillors, the upper chamber of the Diet, Japan's parliament. But he never attended a Diet meeting since then. As a result, he was expelled from the Upper House as a penalty and lost his status as a lawmaker in March.
