親の宗教で悩み相談　山上容疑者、同僚に―安倍元首相銃撃

　安倍晋三元首相が銃撃され死亡した事件で逮捕された山上徹也容疑者（４１）は、海上自衛官だった約２０年前、親の宗教活動に関する悩みを同僚に打ち明けていた。逮捕後、特定の宗教団体への恨みについて供述しており、長期にわたる苦悩が逆恨みに転じた可能性がある。
　山上容疑者は任期制自衛官として２００２年に採用され、０５年に３年間の任期を満了し除隊した。防衛省関係者は「親の宗教関係で悩んでいたみたいだ」と語る。同容疑者は同僚に悩みを相談し、きょうだいの心配もしていた。ただ印象が薄く、当時の同僚らで覚えている人は少ないという。
　幼少期を過ごした家の近隣住民らによると、山上容疑者は子どもの頃に父親を亡くし、その後は母親、きょうだいと暮らした。実家の近所に住む男性（５５）は、妹らとボールなどで遊ぶ幼い同容疑者の姿を思い出し、「ごく普通の家庭で育った子。どうしてこんなことになったのか知りたい」と首をひねった。
　進学した奈良市の中学校ではバスケットボール部に所属。目立たず、おとなしいタイプで、「こてつ」というあだ名で呼ばれていた。卒業後は奈良県大和郡山市内の県立高校に進み、応援団に入った。卒業アルバムには将来の夢について、「わからん」と記していた。
　山上容疑者の現住所は奈良市内の８階建てマンション。住民の６０代女性は「すれ違った時にあいさつしたら、あいさつも返ってこないし、会釈もなかった。すごく悩んでいるように見えた」と振り返った。同じ８階に住む会社員の男性（５５）は「去年の秋ごろ、電動工具の音がうるさいことがあった」と話す。同階の６０代男性もこの１カ月の間に、「ギコギコ」とのこぎりで切るような音を耳にしたという。（2022/07/10-07:06）

About 20 years ago, Tetsuya Yamagami, accused of gunning down former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, told his colleagues that he had an issue about his parent's religious activities, it has been learned.
   In police questioning after his arrest Friday for the shooting the same day, Yamagami, a 41-year-old resident of the western Japan city of Nara, said he shot Abe because he had a grudge against a specific religious group with which he believed the former prime minister had a link.
   The suspect might have been worried over the problem for a long time, which in turn possibly led to his hostility against the former prime minister. Abe was shot Friday while delivering an election campaign speech in Nara and was confirmed dead later in the day.
   Yamagami was employed as a fixed-term Self-Defense Forces member in 2002 and was discharged from the SDF in 2005 after completing his three-year term.
   "It seems that he had been concerned over a religious matter related to his parent," a Defense Ministry official said.
