参院選、１０日投開票　与野党「暴力に屈せず」【２２参院選】

　第２６回参院選は１０日、投開票される。ロシアのウクライナ侵攻を受けた物価高への対応、防衛政策の見直しなどが主要争点で、昨年１０月に就任した岸田文雄首相（自民党総裁）の政権運営に審判が示される。自民党の安倍晋三元首相が銃撃されて死亡した事件が有権者の投票行動に影響を与えるとの見方もある。厳戒態勢の下、与野党幹部は９日、最後の訴えを行った。
　８日の事件発生を受け、多くの与野党幹部が同日午後の遊説を中止したが、９日は再開した。会場に金属探知機を設置するなど警備態勢も強化された。
　首相は新潟市で喪章を着けて街頭演説に臨み、「暴力には決して屈しない。力を合わせて民主主義、大切な選挙を守ろう」と呼び掛けた。物価高騰に対して「ピンポイントで政策を用意する」と説明した。
　立憲民主党の泉健太代表は川崎市で演説し、「民主主義を絶対に消してはならない」と表明。同時に「長年、アベノミクスの下で経済格差が広がったのも事実だ」と経済政策の転換を求めた。公明党の山口那津男代表は同市で「言論を暴力で封殺する行いは断じて許すことはできない」と強調した。
　日本維新の会の松井一郎代表は京都府亀岡市で「テロ行為に屈することなく、最後まで全力を尽くし、政策を訴える」と語った。共産党の志位和夫委員長はさいたま市で「自由な言論を暴力で封殺することは絶対に許してはならない」とし、国民民主党の玉木雄一郎代表も川崎市で「言論、民主主義を止めてはならない」と述べた。
　れいわ新選組の山本太郎代表、社民党の福島瑞穂党首、ＮＨＫ党の立花孝志党首も最後の訴えを行った。
　改選１２４（選挙区７４、比例代表５０）と神奈川選挙区の欠員補充を合わせた計１２５議席をめぐり、選挙区３６７人、比例代表１７８人の計５４５人が立候補した。参院の総定数は今回から３増えて２４８（過半数１２５）。首相は与党で非改選（７０）も含めて過半数となる「５５議席以上」を勝敗ラインに掲げた。
　投票所は全国に約４万６０００カ所設置。一部地域を除いて１０日午前７時から午後８時まで投票が行われ、直ちに開票が始まる。（2022/07/09-21:04）

Political party leaders took to streets across Japan Saturday, the final day of campaigning for the House of Councillors election Sunday.
   Many ruling and opposition party executives suspended their campaign activities Friday afternoon following the shooting earlier that day of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who was on campaign trail in the western city of Nara. Many parties resumed stump speeches Saturday. Abe was confirmed dead Friday afternoon.
   In the triennial the poll for the upper chamber of the Diet, Japan's parliament, current Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, also president of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, will face the verdict of voters on the way he ran the government since taking office last October.
   While issues in the election include measures to deal with soaring prices blamed mainly on Russia's invasion of Ukraine and whether to review Japan's defense policy, some pundits say that the shooting and death of Abe, an LDP member, may influence voting behavior.
   "We'll never succumb to violence," Kishida said in a stump speech in the city of Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi Prefecture, west of Tokyo. Tight security measures, such as the installation of metal detectors, were in place at the speech venue.
