【こぼれ話】サンタはロックダウンの対象外、伊首相が子どもの不安を払拭

【ローマＡＦＰ＝時事】子どもたちが新型コロナウイルス対策でサンタクロースも外出できないのではないかと不安がる中、イタリアのジュセッペ・コンテ首相は12日、サンタは特別な許可を受けているから世界中の子どもにプレゼントを届けることができると述べ、そうした不安を払拭（ふっしょく）した。（写真は資料写真）
　コンテ氏は、サンタの外出を認めてあげてと必死に懇願するトンマーゾ君（５）の手紙に答える形で、「サンタは、世界中を移動する許可証を持っているから、どこにだって行けるし、世界中の子どもにプレゼントを届けることができると言っていた」とフェイスブックに投稿した。イタリアでサンタクロースは「バッボナターレ」として知られている。
　コンテ氏は、「サンタは、自分だけでなく出会うみんながコロナにかからないように、いつもマスクを着けて、正しい対人距離を取っていると言っていた」と述べ、クリスマスツリーの下に温かい牛乳とビスケットだけでなく、手指用消毒ジェルも置いてみたらどうかと提案した。
　さらに、「それから、サンタへの手紙の中で、いい子にしていると伝えなくても大丈夫。私が言っておいたから」「サンタにコロナウイルスを追い払ってとお願いしたいみたいだけど、プレゼントをお願いするのも忘れないで」と続けた。

Father Christmas wears a mask and can travel the world thanks to a special permit, Italy's prime minister said Thursday to ease children's fears that Santa may also be under lockdown this year.

Italy, the first European country hit by coronavirus earlier this year, has recorded a surge in cases in recent weeks and has topped one million infections in total.

But a growing number of medical workers and politicians are calling for stricter measures, and even a second nationwide lockdown.
Whatever the evolution of the pandemic in the coming weeks, Regional Affairs Minister Francesco Boccia said Thursday that Christmas would only be celebrated among close family members.
