７月台風発生なし　統計史上初―気象庁

　南シナ海の中国・海南島近くにある熱帯低気圧が３１日夜までに台風に発達せず、気象庁の１９５１年の統計開始以来、７月の台風発生が初めてゼロとなった。今年は５月１２日にフィリピンの東海上で１号、６月１２日に南シナ海で２号が発生しただけにとどまり、７月末までの発生回数は１９９８年の１回に次いで、２番目に少なかった。
　南シナ海の熱帯低気圧は３１日午後９時、海南島近くの海上を時速１０キロで西北西へ進んだ。中心気圧は９９８ヘクトパスカル、最大風速は１５メートル。８月１日に最大風速が台風の基準である約１７メートルに達する可能性がある。（2020/07/31-22:26）

No Typhoon Occurs in July for First Time Ever

Not a single typhoon occurred in July, the first such case since the Japan Meteorological Agency started taking records in 1951.
This year, only two typhoons have occurred, one on May 12 in waters east of the Philippines and the other on June 12 in the South China Sea.
This marked the second-lowest number of typhoons for a period through the end of July after only one occurred in 1998.
