政府、国連委に削除要求　皇室典範改正勧告「強く抗議」

　林芳正官房長官は３０日の記者会見で、国連の女性差別撤廃委員会が女性皇族による皇位継承を認めていない皇室典範の改正を勧告したことについて、「大変遺憾であり、委員会側に強く抗議し、削除の申し入れを行った」と明らかにした。
　林氏は「皇位継承のあり方は国家の基本に係る事項であり、女性に対する差別の撤廃を目的とする女子差別撤廃条約の趣旨に照らし、委員会が皇室典範について取り上げることは適当ではない」と指摘した。（2024/10/30-17:08）

Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi urged a U.N. panel on Wednesday to withdraw its call for a revision of Japan's Imperial House Law.
   The move came after the U.N. Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women released a report including the recommendation.
   The recommendation was "very regrettable," Hayashi told a press conference. "We strongly protested to the committee and demanded the deletion (of the recommendation)," the top government spokesman added.
   In the report, the U.N. panel said the Japanese law, which allows only male descendants from the paternal line of the Imperial Family to become Emperor, is "contrary to the object and purpose of the Convention (on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women)."
   "Succession to the Imperial throne is a matter that affects the foundations of the nation, and it is inappropriate for the committee to take up the Imperial House Law in light of the purpose of the convention," Hayashi said.
