アニメ美術監督の山本二三さん死去

　山本　二三さん（やまもと・にぞう＝アニメ美術監督）１９日午後１時２８分、胃がんのため埼玉県飯能市の自宅で死去、７０歳。長崎県出身。葬儀は２７日午前１１時から飯能市飯能９４８の３の広域飯能斎場で。喪主は長男鷹生（たかお）さん。
　宮崎駿監督「天空の城ラピュタ」「もののけ姫」、高畑勲監督「火垂（ほた）るの墓」、細田守監督「時をかける少女」など、数多くの人気アニメ映画で美術監督を務めた。迫力ある独特の筆致で描かれる雲は「二三雲」と呼ばれ、ファンや作り手に親しまれた。１８年には故郷の長崎県五島市に「山本二三美術館」がオープンした。（2023/08/21-15:26）

Japanese Anime Art Director Nizo Yamamoto Dies at 70

Prominent Japanese anime art director Nizo Yamamoto died on Saturday from stomach cancer at the age of 70.
   Yamamoto served as art director for many notable films including Hayao Miyazaki's "Castle in the Sky" and "Princess Mononoke," Isao Takahata's "Grave of the Fireflies," and Mamoru Hosoda's "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time."
   Among anime creators and fans, he was especially known for his depiction of clouds, drawn with unique yet powerful brushstrokes.
   In 2018, Nizo Yamamoto Art Museum opened in his hometown of Goto in Nagasaki Prefecture, southwestern Japan.
