教訓忘れず、次世代へ　コロナ禍で２度目の「１．１７」―阪神大震災２７年

　６４３４人が犠牲となった阪神大震災は、１７日で発生から２７年を迎えた。新型コロナウイルスの変異株「オミクロン株」が猛威を振るう中、兵庫県内各地では追悼行事が開かれた。遺族らは震災の教訓を次世代に伝えようと思いを新たにした。
　神戸市中央区の公園「東遊園地」では、ＮＰＯ法人などが追悼の集いを開催。２７年前の災禍を忘れないなどの思いを込め、「忘　１．１７」の字をかたどった竹と紙の灯籠に火をともし、地震発生時刻の午前５時４６分に黙とうをささげた。
　同市の追悼式には、震災で姉の西田瑞恵さん＝当時（１７）＝を亡くした、シンガー・ソングライターの田代作人さん（３７）が出席。感染防止対策のため昨年は中止された遺族代表の「追悼のことば」を２年ぶりに読み上げた。終了後、田代さんは「震災を知らない世代が多いので、自分が体験したことと今思うことをちゃんと伝えようという気持ちで読んだ」と語った。
　兵庫県なども、午前１１時２０分から神戸市内の慰霊碑前で追悼式を開催。斎藤元彦知事が「四半世紀を超える歳月がたち、風化が懸念されている。震災の経験と教訓を広く発信するとともに、一人一人が防災について考え、行動する災害文化のさらなる定着を図る」とあいさつした。
　県立舞子高校３年の桑田優葵さん（１７）は「震災の経験から生まれた教訓のリレーを私たち未災者が止めてはいけない。これからも防災の輪を広げていく」とメッセージを読み上げた。
　県内各地で予定されていたその他の追悼関連行事は、新型コロナの影響により、２年連続で中止や縮小が相次いだ。（2022/01/17-12:47）

Japan marked the 27th anniversary Monday of the 1995 Great Hanshin Earthquake, which devastated the western port city of Kobe and nearby areas, with people renewing their pledges to pass on lessons learned from the disaster to younger generations.
   At a park in the city's Chuo Ward, people lit bamboo lanterns and offered silent prayers at 5:46 a.m. (8:46 p.m. Sunday GMT), the exact time when the 7.3-magnitude earthquake struck the region on Jan. 17, 1995.
   The city government of Kobe, the capital of Hyogo Prefecture, carried out a memorial ceremony, in which Sakuto Tashiro, a 37-year-old singer-songwriter, read out words of mourning as a representative of the bereaved families.
   "Many generations do not know about the disaster, so when I made the speech, I tried to tell them what I experienced as well as my current feelings," said Tashiro, who lost his older sister, Mizue Nishida, then 17, in the disaster.
   A memorial ceremony will also be held by the Hyogo prefectural government in front of a cenotaph in Kobe.
