五輪開催で効果薄く　「緊急事態宣言と矛盾」と識者

　新型コロナウイルスの急激な感染拡大を受け、政府の緊急事態宣言の対象が２日、６都府県に拡大された。コロナ禍での人々の心理を考察している原田隆之筑波大教授（臨床心理学）は「そもそも緊急事態宣言下で東京五輪を開催したことが矛盾したメッセージになっている」として、効果に疑問を呈する。
　原田教授によると、人は矛盾したメッセージを受け取ると「認知的不協和」と呼ばれる不安な状態に陥り、都合の良い情報だけを受け取るようになる。五輪のお祭りムードが続く中では、緊急事態宣言も人ごとのように感じるため、効果は薄れると指摘する。
　その上で、外出自粛などを呼び掛けるメッセージについて「ほぼ効果を失っている」として、より思い切った対策が必要だと提言。高速道路や公共交通機関の値上げによる移動の抑制などを例に挙げ、「何らかのインセンティブ（動機付け）とセットで、今までと違う大胆な施策を打ち出すべきだ」と強調した。
　五輪開幕後は世論が反対から賛成に傾いたように見えるが、原田教授は「五輪が終われば今度は政府が感染拡大の責任を問われる可能性もある」と話した。（2021/08/03-08:57）

With the Japanese government's novel coronavirus state of emergency expanded from two areas, including Tokyo, to six on Monday, a Japanese expert has questioned the effectiveness of the move during the Tokyo Olympics.
   Takayuki Harada, a clinical psychology professor at the University of Tsukuba, who is studying the mental state of people during the coronavirus epidemic, said that "hosting the Tokyo Games under the state of emergency sent out a contradictory message in the first place."
   On Monday, the government added four prefectures, three of which neighbor Tokyo, to its list of those covered under the fourth state of emergency, reflecting a sharp rise in the number of coronavirus infection cases.
   When people receive conflicting messages, they fall into a state of cognitive dissonance and become only able to accept self-serving information, Harada said.
   Amid a rising festive mood since the start of the Tokyo Olympics, the state of emergency is less effective, as people consider the measure someone else's problem, Harada said.
