観客数、６月上旬にも判断を　五輪実現へ政府に要請　―自民・下村氏

　与野党の政策責任者は１６日のＮＨＫ番組で、新型コロナウイルス感染拡大が続く中の東京五輪・パラリンピック開催をめぐり議論した。自民党の下村博文政調会長は７月に予定通り実現するため、政府や大会組織委員会などに対し、観客数の判断を６月上旬にも明らかにするよう求めた。
　下村氏は、国際オリンピック委員会（ＩＯＣ）のバッハ会長が同月来日するとの見通しを示した上で、「その時までにどの程度なら観客を入れられるのかなどの整理を明示する必要がある」と強調。公明党の竹内譲政調会長は、開催中止を求める世論が増えていることを念頭に、「無観客だっていい。白旗を揚げるのは早過ぎる」と主張した。
　これに対し、立憲民主党の泉健太政調会長は「医療の負担を増やさないために何ができるかが最優先だ」と述べ、中止や延期の検討を要求。共産党の田村智子政策委員長も「政府が（今夏の開催は）できないと判断すべきだ」と訴えた。
　日本維新の会の浅田均政調会長は、大会組織委、東京都、ＩＯＣなどによる話し合いを要請。国民民主党の舟山康江政調会長は、開催の可否を判断する第三者機関の月内設置を提案した。（2021/05/16-15:00）

A senior Japanese ruling party official has called on the Japanese government, the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics organizing committee and others to decide how many spectators will be allowed at the games in early June at the earliest.
   Hakubun Shimomura, chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party's Policy Research Council, made the request in a television program aired by Japan Broadcasting Corp., or NHK, on Sunday.
   The decision needs to be made at such timing to start the games in July as currently planned, Shimomura noted.
   He said International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach is expected to visit Japan in June and added, "We need to clarify by then to what extent we can accept spectators."
   "Having no audience would be fine. It's too early to show the white flag," Yuzuru Takeuchi, Shimomura's counterpart in Komeito, the LDP's coalition partner, said, apparently mindful of growing public calls for the cancellation of the Tokyo Games.
