北角さん「訴え続ける」　解放から一夜明け、決意新たに

　ミャンマーで収監され、帰国したフリージャーナリストの北角裕樹さん（４５）が解放から一夜明けた１５日、新型コロナウイルス対策のため待機中のホテルで電話取材に応じた。同じ刑務所に収監されていた「政治犯」の窮状を語り、「現状を世界に訴えていく」と決意を新たにした。
　北角さんによると、日本人の北角さんは刑務所で手荒な扱いは受けなかったが、収監された他の多くのミャンマー人政治犯には、軍の施設で非常に厳しい拷問があったといい、「意に沿わない発言には暴力。死に至る人もいた」と話した。
　また、「虚偽のニュース」を広めたという北角さんの起訴事実は、友人が銃を突き付けられてサインさせられた調書に基づく「でっち上げ」だったという。
　「クーデターを絶対に認めない。世の中を変えていきたい」と北角さん。収監されていたミャンマー人とは情報交換し、励まし助け合った。帰国時に着ていたＴシャツもそんな仲間から譲り受け、「ミャンマーの現状を伝えてほしい」と託された。（2021/05/15-21:19）

Japanese freelance journalist Yuki Kitazumi, released from a Myanmar prison Friday, has renewed his resolve to keep telling stories about the country's severe situation since the Feb. 1 military coup.
   In a telephone conversation with Jiji Press on Saturday, Kitazumi said that in the prison where he was jailed, many Myanmarese people were detained as political prisoners.
   Kitazumi was not treated harshly in the prison, but many Myanmarese political prisoners were put through very severe torture at a military facility, he said.
   "Violence was inflicted on those who made remarks considered unfavorable. Some people died," he also said.
   Kitazumi was arrested in Yangon and was sent to prison in the city last month. He was later indicted on charges including alleged dissemination of fake news.
