仮住まい４２００人超　見守り支援本格化―７月豪雨から半年・熊本

　熊本県南部を中心に襲った昨年７月の記録的豪雨は、災害の発生から４日で半年。６５人が犠牲となった同県では、避難所はほぼ解消されたものの、なお４２００人以上が仮設住宅などでの生活を続ける。被災者の孤立などを防ぐため、自治体は見守り支援を本格化させている。
　建設型仮設住宅に身を寄せる被災者は昨年１２月２０日現在、人吉市など７市町村で１８５１人。民間住宅を借り上げた「みなし仮設」などを加えると４２１５人に上る。指定避難所は全て閉鎖され、ホテルを活用した「みなし避難所」が人吉市で１施設残る。
　この他、浸水を免れた自宅２階などで暮らす在宅被災者は少なくとも２６１４世帯。各市町村は、被災者の自宅再建や孤立化防止に向けて戸別訪問に力を入れている。
　豪雨は昨年７月３～８日に九州一帯を襲い、河川の氾濫で大規模な水害が発生。熊本県では球磨川の氾濫や土砂崩れで６５人が死亡、２人が行方不明となった。住宅被害は全半壊が４５８２棟で、道路や農業などを含めた被害総額は概算で５３３０億円。
　ＪＲ肥薩線は八代（熊本県八代市）―吉松（鹿児島県湧水町）間が不通のままで、復旧のめどは立っていない。第三セクターのくま川鉄道も全線運休が続いている。（2021/01/03-20:39）

Over 4,200 people are still living in temporary housing in Kumamoto Prefecture, southwestern Japan, about six months after a deadly rain disaster mainly hit the southern part of the prefecture.
   Local governments have been stepping up support for these people, sending staff members to each home to prevent their isolation and give assistance for rebuilding their houses.
   As of Dec. 20 last year, the number of people living in temporary housing built for disaster victims totaled 1,851 in the city of Hitoyoshi and six other municipalities in Kumamoto. When those living in private housing rented by local municipalities for evacuees are combined, people still living in temporary homes in the prefecture add up to as many as 4,215.
   In addition, at least 2,614 families are living in damaged homes, on the second floor that escaped inundation, for example.
   On July 3-8 last year, heavy rains hit the Kyushu southwestern region, causing floods, landslides and other damage. In Kumamoto, 65 people died due to the flooding of the Kuma River and landslides, while two remain missing. The number of houses that suffered damage came to 4,582 and the total financial damage, including damage to roads and agriculture, is estimated at 533 billion yen.
