拉致問題「一刻も早く解決を」　バイデン氏勝利で被害者家族―米大統領選

　米大統領選でバイデン前副大統領の当選が確実となったのを受け、北朝鮮による拉致被害者の家族からは８日、バイデン氏への期待の一方、帰国を待つ側の高齢化が進み一刻の猶予もないとして、早期解決に向け、日本から米国への働き掛けを強めるよう求める声が上がった。
　田口八重子さん＝拉致当時（２２）＝の兄で「北朝鮮による拉致被害者家族連絡会」代表の飯塚繁雄さん（８２）は「バイデン氏が就任しても、拉致問題に取り組んでくれるだろう」と期待感を示した。一方で「新型コロナウイルスや人種問題など多くの課題が米国内にあり、拉致まで手が届かないのではないか」と懸念し、「黙っていたら時間だけが過ぎてしまう。日本政府には引き続き米国側に対応を促し続けてほしい」と求めた。
　市川修一さん＝同（２３）＝の兄健一さん（７５）は「トランプ大統領は米朝首脳会談で拉致問題を提起するなどして、関心を持って行動してくれた。再選しなかったのは残念な思いもある」と心境を明かしながら、「決まった以上は、バイデン氏と信頼関係を築く必要がある」と強調。「高齢化が進んだ家族には時間がなく、焦りばかりが募っている」と一刻も早い帰国実現を訴えた。（2020/11/08-16:29）

Families of Japanese citizens abducted to North Korea on Sunday expressed hopes that Joe Biden will work to resolve the abduction issue once he takes office as U.S. president.
   "Biden is expected to work on the abduction issue," said Shigeo Iizuka, the 82-year-old leader of a group of abductee families and brother of Yaeko Taguchi, an abduction victim.
   But Iizuka expressed concerns that the abduction issue may be left behind as the United States has race, the coronavirus pandemic and many other issues that need to be addressed.
   "The Japanese government should continue to urge the U.S. side to act," Iizuka said.
   Kenichi Ichikawa, the 75-year-old brother of Shuichi, an abductee, said U.S. President Donald Trump's failure to win a second term is "somewhat regrettable" because he had an interest in the abduction issue and acted.
