新潟・三条で４０．４度　９月国内最高を更新―台風９号でフェーン現象・気象庁

　東北地方から山陰地方にかけての日本海側では３日、晴れて気温が３５度以上の猛暑日になる所が続出した。気象庁によると、新潟県三条市で４０．４度を観測。埼玉県熊谷市で２０００年９月２日に観測した９月の国内統計史上最高記録３９．７度を更新した。新潟県内では胎内市も４０．０度となった。
　山形県鶴岡市では観測点ごとの９月の記録を更新する３９．１度、石川県輪島市では年間記録を更新する３８．６度を観測した。
　台風９号が朝鮮半島東方沖の日本海を北上した影響で、東北から山陰の日本海側では南から暖かく湿った空気が流れ込み、山を越えた際に温度が上昇するフェーン現象が発生したとみられる。台風９号が九州西方沖を北上していた２日もフェーン現象が起き、三条市は３７．３度、胎内市は３５．７度を観測していた。
　今夏は記録的猛暑となり、８月１７日には浜松市中区で４１．１度を観測して熊谷市の年間国内最高記録に並んだ。三条市では１８年８月２３日にも４０．４度を観測しており、観測点別の年間全国高温順位では１７番目に当たる。（2020/09/03-16:55）

The mercury topped 40 degrees Celsius in the city of Sanjo, Niigata Prefecture, central Japan, on Thursday, hitting a new domestic record high for September, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
   Temperatures rose above 35 degrees in many areas along the Sea of Japan coast from western to northeastern Japan, as the "foehn" phenomenon, in which warm and humid air from the south becomes hotter after crossing mountains, is believed to have occurred from the effect of Typhoon Maysak.
   The Niigata city logged a temperature of 40.2 degrees at 1:16 p.m. (4:16 a.m. GMT), surpassing the previous domestic September record of 39.7 degrees, set in the city of Kumagaya, Saitama Prefecture, north of Tokyo, on Sept. 2, 2000.
   Elsewhere, temperatures reached 39.3 degrees in the city of Tainai, Niigata, and 39.1 degrees in the city of Tsuruoka, Yamagata Prefecture, rewriting the cities' respective September records.
