９月入学、与党に慎重論拡大　学校再開で機運しぼむ

　与党内で２６日、学校の入学・始業時期を秋にずらす「９月入学」への慎重論が広がった。新型コロナウイルスに関する緊急事態宣言が全面解除され、全国で学校再開の動きが本格化。早期導入の機運は急速にしぼんでいる。
　自民党の世耕弘成参院幹事長は２６日の記者会見で、９月入学をめぐる党内の検討状況について「じっくり議論していけばいくほど、社会的なインパクトに気付き始め、慎重な議論になってきている」との見方を示した。
　９月入学はもともと、休校長期化に伴う学習の遅れを取り戻す打開策として、政府内で浮上した。自民、公明両党もこれを受け、それぞれ議論を始めており、６月上旬に提言をまとめる方針だ。
　ただ、巨額の財政負担や、新小学１年生の対象年齢の区切り方、就学直前の待機児童増加への対応など、課題は山積み。学校再開にめどが立ったこともあり、自民党が２５日に開いた検討チーム会合では「ほとんどの議員が導入に慎重、反対意見だった」（村井英樹事務局長）という。
　公明党も消極的だ。山口那津男代表は２６日の会見で「コロナ感染で学ぶ機会が削られたことへの対応とは別に、もっと幅広い観点から、時間をかけた十分な議論が必要ではないか。切り離した検討を求めたい」と述べ、中長期的な課題とするよう訴えた。
　９月入学をめぐっては、安倍晋三首相が先月の国会答弁で「前広にさまざまな選択肢を検討していきたい」と表明。しかし、２５日の会見では「学校の再開状況や、社会全体への影響を見極めつつ、慎重に検討していきたい」と姿勢を後退させた。
　首相周辺によると、首相には会見直前、自民党内で「慎重論が多い」との情報が伝わったという。９月入学は首相官邸が「前のめり」気味だったが、与党のブレーキで尻すぼみに終われば、政権の求心力がさらに低下する可能性もある。（2020/05/27-07:18）

Opinions in favor of changing the start of the school year in Japan to September from April are dwindling rapidly among lawmakers in the Liberal Democratic Party-led ruling coalition.
   This is because a number of schools are moving to reopen after the government fully lifted its state of emergency over the outbreak of the new coronavirus on Monday.
   "The more carefully we discuss it, the more we become aware of its social impacts, and cautious opinions are increasing," Hiroshige Seko, secretary-general of the LDP in the House of Councillors, the upper chamber of the Diet, Japan's parliament, told a news conference on Tuesday.
   Introduction of the September enrollment system has been proposed by the government to allow students to make up for a delay in education caused by prolonged school closures amid the virus crisis.
   The LDP and its coalition partner, Komeito, are scheduled to draw up their recommendations over the matter early next month.
