安倍首相、「アビガン」月内承認へ　治験プロセスを加速

　安倍晋三首相は４日の記者会見で、新型コロナウイルスの候補薬である抗インフルエンザ薬「アビガン」について、「月内の薬事承認を目指したい」と表明した。米国で開発された抗ウイルス薬「レムデシビル」とともに手続きを急ぎ、治療に役立てたい考え。
　アビガンは国内メーカーの富士フイルム富山化学が開発し、新型インフルエンザ治療薬として承認されている。現在は新型コロナへの有効性を調べる治験が行われており、軽、中症状の患者に対する効果が期待されている。ただ、動物実験では胎児に奇形が生じる副作用が報告されており、妊婦らには投与できない。
　アビガンについては治験と並行し、患者の同意を得た上で用いる「観察研究」により、新型コロナの治療でも投与が始まっている。承認されればさらに幅広く投与できるようになるとみられ、厚生労働省は治験などの作業を加速させる見通しだ。
　会見で首相は、アビガンに関し「７０万人分の備蓄がある。さらに２００万人分まで生産を進めていただくようお願いをしている」と述べ、供給態勢を拡充させる意向を強調した。（2020/05/04-20:20）

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said Monday that his government aims to approve the use of the influenza drug Avigan for treatment of patients with the coronavirus within this month.
   Abe made the comments at a press conference held to discuss the government's decision to extend its coronavirus state of emergency through May 31.
   Clinical trials are underway to determine whether Avigan can benefit patients with COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus.
   The drug, developed by Fujifilm Toyama Chemical Co., a unit of Fujifilm Holdings Corp. , is expected to benefit coronavirus patients with minor symptoms. But it cannot be used on pregnant women due to concerns about birth defects.
   For remdesivir, another potential coronavirus treatment, the Japanese health ministry is expected to grant approval shortly using fast-track screening procedures used for drugs approved overseas.
