休校期間は自治体判断　自宅で学習、部活自粛―文科省、感染防止で全国通知

　文部科学省は２８日、新型コロナウイルスの感染拡大防止のため、３月２日から春休みまでの間、全国の小中学校、高校などを一斉に臨時休校とするよう求める通知を、都道府県教育委員会などに出した。幼稚園や大学は対象外とし、休校期間については自治体や学校の判断に委ねるとした。同省によると、全国約３万６０００校に一斉休校を求める通知は初めて。
　萩生田光一文科相は閣議後の記者会見で、「この状況を乗り越えるため、この１、２週間は極めて重要な時期だと判断した」と理解を求めた。文科省担当者は「休校するかどうかは学校の判断だ」と述べ、休校しない判断もあり得るとの認識を示した。
　通知では、休校期間中、児童生徒は基本的に自宅で過ごし、手洗いなど感染対策を行うとした。また、学習面で遅れが生じないよう家庭学習を適切に課すことなどを求めた。卒業式などは、感染防止策を講じた上で、必要最小限の人数での実施を要請した。
　臨時休校により授業時間数が不足した場合、学年修了や卒業認定は弾力的に行うよう求めた。一方、公立学校の教職員は基本的に勤務し、在宅勤務や時差出勤を推進するとした。
　文科省は、通知を踏まえ中学校や高校での部活動も自粛を求めた。萩生田氏は会見で、行政機関や民間企業には子どもを持つ保護者が休みを取れるよう環境整備を促した。（2020/02/28-12:49）

Japan's education ministry issued a notice on Friday calling for a nationwide emergency closure of schools from Monday until the start of the spring break in an effort to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus in the country.
   The notice, issued to education boards across Japan, is the first of its kind seeking a blanket closure of some 36,000 schools in the country. The measure will affect some 13 million students.
   "We've concluded that the next couple of weeks will be crucial to overcoming the current situation," education minister Koichi Hagiuda told a press conference.
   The ministry said municipalities and schools will decide how long schools will be closed. In addition, a ministry official said it will be up to schools to decide whether to call off classes, indicating that schools can choose not to close.
   Students were asked to basically stay at home while schools are closed. They were also requested to take steps to protect themselves from the virus such as washing their hands.
