１９年の不正薬物押収、過去最高３トン超　２．２倍、「極めて深刻」―財務省

　財務省は１２日、税関による２０１９年の不正薬物の押収量が前年比約２．２倍の約３３１８キロとなり、過去最高に達したと発表した。押収量が３トンを超えたのは初めて。「不正薬物の流入は極めて深刻」（幹部）で、新たな検査機器の導入や他国との情報交換などにより、取り締まりを一層強化する。
　不正薬物のうち、大半を占める覚せい剤の押収量は約２５７０キロ、摘発件数は４２５件でいずれも過去最高。一度に約１トンに上る大規模な密輸事案などが発覚し、増加につながった。摘発件数のうち、タイやマレーシアなどアジアからが２０４件と全体の４８％を占めた。
　財務省では、覚せい剤の末端価格が高い日本は「（密輸組織の）大きなマーケットになっている」（同）と警戒を強めている。（2020/02/12-18:11）

Seized Illegal Drugs in Japan Hit Record High in 2019

Japan's customs authorities seized a record 3,318 kilograms of illegal drugs in 2019, up some 2.2-fold from the previous year, the Ministry of Finance said Wednesday.
   This is the first time that seized illegal drugs have topped 3 tons a year.
   "The inflow of illegal drugs is very serious," a senior ministry official said.
   The ministry plans to strengthen crackdowns on illegal drugs by introducing new testing equipment and promoting information sharing with the authorities of other countries.
   In 2019, customs authorities seized some 2,570 kilograms of stimulants in a total of 425 cases, including one smuggling case involving about one tons of stimulants.
