新型肺炎の対策効果？　インフル、低調に推移

　全国のインフルエンザ患者数が低調に推移しており、今年第４週（１月２０～２６日）は推定６５万４０００人と、前年同週の２２２万６０００人を大幅に下回っている。新型コロナウイルスによる肺炎を警戒し、マスク着用や手洗い徹底などの対策を取る人が増える中、専門家は「対策がインフルエンザの流行抑制にも貢献している可能性はある」と指摘する。
　厚生労働省によると、全国約５０００の医療機関から第４週に定点報告を受けたインフルエンザ患者は、１医療機関当たり平均１８人。同週としては２０１１年以降、最も少なかった。
　患者数は第１週以降、増減を繰り返しており、国立感染症研究所の担当者は「推移を注意深く見る必要がある。（新型ウイルスへの）感染症対策がどれほど影響を与えているかは分からない」と慎重な見方を示す。
　一方、東京都感染症対策課の担当者は、新型ウイルスへの対策は「基本的にインフルエンザ対策と同じだ」と強調。国や自治体は手洗いやアルコール消毒液の使用、マスク着用の啓発に力を入れており、「インフル予防にも有効に働いていると考えていい」と話す。
　川崎医科大の尾内一信教授（小児感染症）は「中国からの団体旅行が相次いでキャンセルされ、感染拡大につながりやすい観光地の人口密集度が低下していることも影響しているのではないか」と話している。（2020/02/02-07:17）

Efforts to prevent exposure to a new coronavirus may have contributed to containing the spread of influenza in Japan this year, some experts say.
   The estimated number of flu patients in the country in the fourth week of the year tumbled to 654,000 from 2,226,000 a year before.
   The average number of flu patients at some 5,000 hospitals across the country came to 18, hitting the lowest level for the week since 2011, according to the health ministry.
   An official of the National Institute of Infectious Diseases is cautious about the effects of measures against the new coronavirus on preventing flu infection.
   The official pointed to the need to monitor the number of flu patients carefully as the figure has shown ups and downs since the first week of the year.
