関電、データセンター参入　米社と共同、１０年で１兆円投資

　関西電力は２２日、大容量のデータ処理を行う大規模データセンターの開発・運用事業に参入すると発表した。米国のデータセンター運営大手のサイラスワンと共同出資会社を今月中に設立。新会社は今後１０年程度で１兆円以上を投資し、総受電容量９００メガワット以上の事業規模を目指す。
　関電によると、データ通信量が増加する中、国内の大規模データセンターの市場規模は２０３０年度に１万１０００メガワットと、２０年度比で９０００メガワット拡大する見通し。関電は中核的な事業の一つと位置付け、拡大する市場の１割を獲得したい考えだ。（2023/05/22-18:38）

Kansai Electric to Enter Data Center Biz

Kansai Electric Power Co. said Monday it will enter the business of developing and operating large-scale data centers.
The Japanese power supplier plans to establish a fifty-fifty joint venture with major U.S. data center operator CyrusOne later this month. The joint venture, CyrusOne KEP Inc., will have capital of 586 million yen and will be located at Kansai Electric's headquarters.
