社員感染、人繰り綱渡り　外食や郵便、鉄道は減便―新型コロナ

　新型コロナウイルスの感染急拡大を受け、外食や郵便、鉄道などの人手不足が深刻化してきた。従業員の感染で店舗の一時休業や時短営業が続出。鉄道やバスは運転士不足から運行本数を減らしている。綱渡りの人繰りに、「濃厚接触者の待機期間をさらに短くしてほしい」（外食大手）と悲鳴が上がる。
　日本郵便は、全国約２００カ所の郵便局で窓口業務を休止した。局員がコロナ感染や濃厚接触者となり出勤できなくなったという。配達に支障はないが、ゆうちょ銀行の現金自動預払機（ＡＴＭ）が休止し現金が引き出せない店舗もある。
　交通関連では、ＪＲ九州が運転士や車掌の感染者急増で、５日まで特急列車計１２０本を運休。愛知県豊橋市の豊鉄バスは１日以降、平日も休日ダイヤで運行し、本数を通常時より約１４％減らしている。同社は「安全を最優先するための措置」と理解を求める。
　スターバックスコーヒージャパンは足元で１０店前後が休業。「家族の感染などで従業員が出勤できず、人が足りないケースが出ている」（広報）。ファミリーレストラン「ココス」は最大２０数店が時短営業、「ビッグボーイ」は数店が一時休業した。親会社のゼンショーホールディングスは「数はまだ少ないが、今後どうなるか注視したい」と警戒する。
　一方、大手スーパーは本部やグループ会社の社員による応援態勢を整えて販売網を維持。感染状況が悪化すれば「ほかの売り場を早く閉めたり休業したりして、食品を優先するかもしれない」（イトーヨーカ堂）といい、ライフライン確保に努める方針だ。

Labor shortages in the Japanese service industry such as restaurant, postal service and railway operators are becoming serious in the wake of a surge in COVID-19 cases.
   Stores have been forced to close temporarily or shorten operating hours because of a shortage of staff, while railway and bus firms have been operating on reduced timetables due to a lack of drivers.
   "Quarantine periods should be shortened further for close contacts," an official at a major restaurant chain said.
   Japan Post Co., a unit of Japan Post Holdings Co. , has suspended over-the-counter services at some 200 post offices across the country as employees have been infected with the virus or identified as close contacts.
   While there have been no disruptions to mail and parcel deliveries, some automated teller machines run by Japan Post Bank , another Japan Post Holdings unit, have been unavailable.
