教会でも御朱印を　共存の歴史、３宗教で一度に―熊本・天草の潜伏キリシタン集落

　２０１８年に世界遺産登録された潜伏キリシタン関連遺産である熊本県天草市の崎津集落では、神社と寺にキリスト教会も加えた３宗教施設の御朱印集めができ、観光客の話題になっている。
　県南西部の天草市河浦町にある崎津集落は、約１キロの範囲に約２００世帯が暮らす小さな漁村。崎津諏訪神社、曹洞宗寺院の普應軒、崎津教会がいずれも１００～２００メートルほどの距離にある。神社の境内からは鳥居越しにゴシック様式の教会が見え、人気撮影スポットになっている。
　３施設の御朱印が記された三つ折りの「崎津三宗教　御朱印帖」や、御朱印帳に貼る題字用紙は普應軒で頒布。崎津教会の御朱印は「神は慈愛」の墨書に十字のマークと、ブドウの枝や十字を組み合わせた紋章の朱印が押されている。本来キリスト教に御朱印を授ける習慣はなく、カトリック中央協議会（東京）によると「類を見ない取り組み」だ。

　市文化課によると、崎津では江戸時代の禁教令下でも神道や仏教の信者がキリシタンを密告せず共存してきたという。３施設の御朱印頒布は、世界遺産登録を受けて寺院巡りの案内をする地元団体が地域振興を図ろうと提案。教会も「３宗教が共存してきたことを表す融和の象徴」と受け入れた。
　御朱印集めをしている同県八代市の築出直美さん（４２）は１２月中旬、家族と観光に訪れて３宗教の御朱印を知り、早速手に入れた。「地域に根付く神社やお寺は分かるが、キリスト教のは珍しい」と驚いた様子。地元観光協会などによると、御朱印ブームを受けてツアーに巡礼プランを組み入れた旅行会社もあるといい、頒布数はこれまでに１万１０００を超えた。
　崎津教会の渡辺隆義神父（７１）は「他宗教との交流は世界的な潮流。信仰は違っても、世界平和を願って祈りをささげてほしい」と話している。（2019/12/22-06:58）

Collecting "goshuin" stamps of a Shinto shrine, a Buddhist temple and a Christian church in a small southwestern Japan district which is part of a UNESCO World Heritage site is increasingly gaining traction among tourists.
   With some 200 households, the Sakitsu district in the city of Amakusa in Kumamoto Prefecture mainly lives on fishing. Sakitsu is part of the hidden Christian sites added to the World Heritage list in 2018.
   The three religious facilities--the Sakitsu Suwa Jinja shrine, Fuoken, a temple of the Soto school of Zen Buddhism, and Sakitsu Church--are located some 100 to 200 meters from one another. The Catholic church has become a popular photo spot as its Gothic building can be seen through the "torii" gate of the Shinto shrine.
   A sheet of paper with the goshuin stamps of the three facilities is available at Fuoken. Sakitsu Church's stamp features the Japanese words "kami wa jiai," meaning "God is love," in black ink, with a cross and a blazon having the design of grapevines in vermilion ink.
   Christian churches do not have a custom of offering such stamps to visitors. "This is an unprecedented step," an official at the Tokyo-based Catholic Bishops' Conference of Japan said of Sakitsu Church's move.
