ＮＨＫ次期会長に前田氏　金融界で初、元みずほＦＧ会長

　ＮＨＫの経営委員会は９日、来年１月２４日に任期満了を迎えるＮＨＫの上田良一会長（７０）の後任に、みずほフィナンシャルグループ（ＦＧ）元会長の前田晃伸氏（７４）を選出した。１月２５日付で任命する。金融機関出身者がＮＨＫ会長に就任するのは初めて。上田氏は過去４代の会長と同様、１期（３年）で退任する。
　経営委の石原進委員長（ＪＲ九州相談役）は９日記者会見し、前田氏を起用する理由について「三つの大きな銀行をまとめた経営手腕を持っている」と説明。「しっかりとリーダーシップを持ってＮＨＫを改革できる」と期待を示した。

　前田氏は同日、「できるだけ早く実情を把握し、公共放送の使命にふさわしい仕事をしていきたい」とのコメントを発表。１０日に記者会見する。
　上田氏をめぐっては、かんぽ生命保険の不適切販売を報じたＮＨＫ番組をめぐり、日本郵政の抗議を受け、経営委が上田氏を厳重注意していたことが発覚。石原氏は９日の会見で上田氏が再任されなかった理由に関し「ガバナンス（企業統治）の問題はもう少ししっかりやってもらいたかった」と指摘した。（2019/12/09-21:20）

The Board of Governors of Japan Broadcasting Corp., or NHK, on Monday selected former Mizuho Financial Group Inc. Chairman Terunobu Maeda as the next president of the public broadcaster to succeed Ryoichi Ueda.
   Maeda, 74, will take office on Jan. 25, 2020, the day after the term of office for Ueda, 70, expires. He will be the first person from the financial industry to become NHK president. Ueda will step down after serving one three-year term.
   Maeda "has sophisticated management skills, successfully integrating three large banks," Susumu Ishihara, chairman of the NHK board, told a press conference on Monday. The Mizuho group was launched through the integration of Dai-Ichi Kangyo Bank, Fuji Bank and Industrial Bank of Japan.
   "He can surely exercise leadership to reform NHK," Ishihara, a consultant at Kyushu Railway Co. , or JR Kyushu, added.
   "I hope to quickly grasp the situation at NHK and conduct work that is suitable for a public broadcaster," Maeda said in a statement the same day. He is expected to hold a press conference Tuesday.
