２プラス２、オンラインで調整　外相・防衛相訪問見送りへ―日米

　日米両政府は、来年１月７日に予定していた外務・防衛担当閣僚による安全保障協議委員会（２プラス２）の対面形式での実施を見送る方向で検討に入った。オンラインでの開催を調整する。新型コロナウイルスの変異株「オミクロン株」の感染が米国で急速に広がっていることを受けた対応で、林芳正外相と岸信夫防衛相の訪米は見送られる見通しだ。
　複数の政府関係者が２４日、明らかにした。２プラス２では、東・南シナ海で軍事的圧力を強める中国を念頭に日本の防衛力強化に向けた取り組みを協議。対面形式で行うことで日米の結束をアピールする狙いだった。（2021/12/24-21:24）

The Japanese and U.S. governments are considering holding a planned meeting of their foreign and defense ministers online, considering the rapid spread of the omicron variant of the coronavirus in the United States, informed sources said Friday.
   The so-called two-plus-two security talks were initially planned to be held in person in the United States on Jan. 7. Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi and Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi are now expected to forgo their U.S. visits.
   Through the in-person meeting, the two countries aimed to display their strong ties.
   Hayashi was also planning to attend a Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty review conference in New York ahead of the two-plus-two talks. But he is now looking at the possibility of online participation.
