バッハ会長「心配の必要ない」　東京五輪マラソン・競歩の札幌開催―ＩＯＣ理事会

　【ローザンヌ（スイス）時事】国際オリンピック委員会（ＩＯＣ）のバッハ会長は５日、スイスのローザンヌで行われた理事会後に記者会見し、東京五輪のマラソン・競歩の札幌開催について、「日本の方々は少しも心配する必要はない。日本で開催されるのだから、とても喜ぶことができる」と述べた。
　マラソン・競歩は暑さ対策のため、バッハ会長の強い意向が通る形で会場が東京から急きょ変更された。同会長は「科学的な見解から説明を受け、選手の健康へのリスクを考慮し、この決断をする必要があった」と説明した。
　理事会ではマラソンの発着点が市中心部の大通公園とすることが承認されたが、コースの後半部分は日本の組織委員会と世界陸連が合意に至らず、継続審議となった。バッハ会長は「スタート時間も決まったし、（世界陸連と）組織委の協議も続いている。私は何も心配していない」と語った。（2019/12/06-00:10）

International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach reassured the Japanese people Thursday on the IOC's decision to change the venue of the marathon and race walk events of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games to Sapporo in the northernmost Japan prefecture of Hokkaido from the capital of the country.
   "The Japanese people need not to be worried or disappointed in any way," Bach said at a press conference in Lausanne, Switzerland, following an IOC executive board meeting earlier in the day. "The marathon and the race walk are taking place in Japan, so they can be very happy with this."
   The venue change, pushed strongly by Bach, was decided in order to avoid the powerful summer heat in Tokyo.
   "The one and only reason" for the move is "the risk for the health and the well-being of athletes, which has been explained to us by a scientific working group studying all the relevant data," the president said. "We had to take this decision," he said, adding, "The athletes can really look forward to a great Olympic experience in Japan."
   At the Thursday meeting, the IOC board approved Odori Park in central Sapporo as the starting point and goal for the marathon, but the Tokyo Games organizing committee and World Athletics, formerly the International Association of Athletics Federations, failed to reach an agreement on the second half of the marathon course.
