エボラワクチン、臨床研究を開始　国内初、健康な成人に接種―東大

　東京大医科学研究所などのチームは５日、致死率の高い「エボラ出血熱」のワクチンを開発し、健康な成人男性に接種して安全性と効果を検証する臨床研究を始めると発表した。ワクチンの臨床研究は国内では初めて。
　臨床研究を行うのは同研究所の四柳宏教授と河岡義裕教授らのチーム。エボラ出血熱ウイルスを改変して増殖に必要な遺伝子を取り除いた上で、化学物質を加えてウイルスを死なせ、残ったタンパク質などをワクチンとして用いる。
　今月中旬にも成人男性への注射を開始。安全性のほか、ウイルスに対する免疫ができるかなど効果も調べる。
　カニクイザルの実験では、ワクチン接種で免疫ができることが分かっている。
　今後製薬企業の協力が得られれば、実用化を目指す臨床試験（治験）などに進みたい考えだ。流行地での使用のほか、日本から流行地を訪れる人らへの接種も想定している。
　エボラ出血熱は臓器の異常や出血を引き起こす感染症で、コンゴ（旧ザイール）で流行が続いている。欧州では１１月、世界初のワクチンが承認された。今回のワクチンについて、河岡教授は「より安全で効果が高いと考えている」と話した。（2019/12/05-20:32）

A Japanese team said Thursday it will start soon a clinical study of an Ebola vaccine, the country's first clinical research into a vaccine against the deadly virus.
   The team, led by professors Hiroshi Yotsuyanagi and Yoshihiro Kawaoka of the University of Tokyo's Institute of Medical Science, will examine the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine developed by the team.
   The team will remove genes necessary for the Ebola virus to proliferate and kill the virus with chemicals. Proteins that will remain after the treatment will be used to make the vaccine.
   Healthy adult men will be vaccinated. The team will observe them to see whether they acquire immunity against the disease.
   Development of such immunity was confirmed in a test on crab-eating monkeys.
