震災遺構、請戸小を公開　福島で初、２４日オープン―浪江町

　福島県浪江町は７日、東日本大震災の脅威や教訓、地域の記憶を後世に伝えるため、震災遺構として整備を進めてきた町立請戸小学校を報道陣に公開した。県内では初の震災遺構で、２４日から一般公開される。
　海岸から約３００メートルに立地する請戸小は、津波の影響で２階床付近まで浸水した。１階部分は、曲がった窓枠や剥がれ落ちた天井、津波到達時刻から止まったままの時計など、被災の爪痕がそのまま残されている。
　２階の教室には、捜索に入った陸上自衛隊員や一時帰宅した住民らのメッセージが書かれた黒板や、震災前の町並みを復元した模型を展示。請戸地区で生活していた住民らが被災体験を語る映像も流す。
　このほか、小学校の歴史を紹介する管理棟や、当時校舎にいた児童ら９５人の避難の経過が描かれた絵本「請戸小学校物語」を使って被災状況を説明するパネルも整備した。
　町教育委員会の玉川宏美副主査は「津波がどれだけの脅威か、実際に目で見て肌で感じてもらいたい。卒業生にとってシンボル的な存在になれば」と話した。（2021/10/07-20:34）

The town government of Namie, Fukushima Prefecture, showed journalists on Thursday the remains of a tsunami-ravaged local elementary school that will be preserved to pass on lessons from and memories of the March 2011 disaster.
   The building of Ukedo Elementary School is the first such preserved disaster-hit structure in Fukushima, northeastern Japan. The remains will be opened to public viewing from Oct. 24.
   Located about 300 meters from the Pacific coast, the municipal school building was flooded to around the second floor by the huge tsunami, unleashed by a 9.0-magnitude earthquake on March 11, 2011.
   On the first floor, traces of the disaster are left untouched, including crooked window frames, fallen ceiling panels and a clock that stopped ticking when the tsunami engulfed the school building.
   In second-floor classrooms, items on display include a blackboard with messages written by Ground Self-Defense Force personnel on a search and rescue mission and local residents who paid temporary visits to the town after evacuation, as well as a scale model of the townscape before the disaster.
