通学路危険箇所を再点検　児童死傷、飲酒運転防止も指示―菅首相

　政府は３０日、交通安全対策に関する関係閣僚会議を首相官邸で開いた。千葉県八街市で小学生の列にトラックが突っ込み、児童５人が死傷した事故を受けた対応。菅義偉首相は「今後、このような悲しく痛ましい事故が二度と起きないよう通学路の総点検を改めて行う」と表明。これまでに策定した子どもの安全確保策を速やかに検証し、拡充・強化するよう指示した。
　今回の事故では、トラックの運転手の呼気から基準値を上回るアルコールが検出された。首相は「飲酒運転は重大事故に直結する極めて悪質で危険な行為だ」と非難。業務で自動車を使用する事業者に対し、飲酒運転防止に向けた管理の徹底を求めていく方針を示した。捜査と原因究明に万全を期す考えも強調した。（2021/06/30-10:34）

Japan will reexamine school routes throughout the country to check for dangerous spots, following a truck crash in Chiba Prefecture earlier this week that left five schoolchildren either dead or injured, Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga said Wednesday.
   Suga unveiled the plan at a meeting of relevant cabinet ministers on traffic safety policies.
   In the accident, which occurred on Monday, a truck ran into a line of elementary school children who were walking home from school in the city of Yachimata, Chiba Prefecture, east of Tokyo. Two were killed, one was left in critical condition and two were severely injured.
   "We will conduct thorough inspections of school routes so that such a tragic accident will never happen again," Suga said.
   He asked the ministers to review existing safety measures for children, as well as expand and improve such policies.
