日米首脳会談、Ｇ７で調整　対中国・北朝鮮、連携を確認

　菅義偉首相は１１～１３日に英南西部コーンウォールで開かれる先進７カ国首脳会議（Ｇ７サミット）出席に合わせ、バイデン米大統領との会談を行う方向で調整に入った。政府関係者が７日、明らかにした。サミットで主要議題となる中国への対応をすり合わせ、北朝鮮問題も協議。日米の連携を改めて確認する方針だ。
　日米首脳会談が実現すれば４月のワシントン以来で菅、バイデン両氏にとり２回目。バイデン政権の北朝鮮政策見直しを受け、朝鮮半島の非核化や拉致問題解決に向けた協力を話し合う見通し。短時間の会談となる可能性があるが、首相としては首脳間の個人的信頼関係の強化を図る機会としたい考えだ。
　外務省幹部は、日米間に喫緊の課題はないとしながらも「会える時に会っておくということだ」と指摘。別の幹部は「（４月の会談で）いろいろ決めたことはあるので、それをしっかりやろうと確認する」と説明した。
　首相は現地滞在中、サミット議長のジョンソン英首相、２０２４年パリ夏季五輪を控えるフランスのマクロン大統領らとも個別に会談する方向で調整。ジョンソン氏とは環太平洋連携協定（ＴＰＰ）への英国参加についても意見交換し、マクロン氏とは今年の東京大会開催への決意を共有したい意向だ。
　首相は７日の自民党役員会でＧ７サミットに関し、「新型コロナウイルス、気候変動、経済、地域情勢といった重要課題について、普遍的価値を共有するＧ７のリーダーと率直に議論し、日本の立場をしっかり発信していく」と述べた。（2021/06/07-20:33）

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga plans to have bilateral talks with U.S. President Joe Biden on the sidelines of a Group of Seven summit to be held in Cornwall, southwestern Britain, from Friday, Japanese government sources said Monday.
   Suga and Biden are expected to coordinate their positions on China, which is seen high on the G-7 summit's agenda, as well as discuss bilateral cooperation on North Korea-related issues including its nuclear program and past abductions of Japanese citizens.
   The face-to-face talks between the Japanese and U.S. leaders will be the first since they met in Washington in April.
   "There are various things that were decided on (at the April meeting), so the leaders will confirm their commitment to these things," a senior Japanese Foreign Ministry official said.
   Another senior ministry official admitted that there are no urgent issues between the two countries at the moment. "It's just that they will meet when possible," the official said.
