北方領土観光「好印象」＝ツアー参加者、根室に帰着

　日本人向けに初めて行われた北方領土への観光ツアーに参加した４４人が２日、一連の日程を終えて北海道根室市の根室港に帰着した。試験的に実施された同ツアーでは、国後島に１０月３０、３１両日に上陸し、博物館や日本人墓地などを訪問。今月１日には択捉島にも約２時間、滞在した。
　ツアーを終えた高橋衛さん（７９）は、「貴重な経験を得た。ロシア人は非常にフレンドリーで、好印象だった」と振り返った。田上由美子さん（６６）は、「（日ロが）仲良くなって、行き来が自由にできるようになったら、国後や択捉の自然をもっと多くの皆さんに知ってもらえるようになる」と期待を込めて語った。
　観光ツアーは日ロ両政府による北方四島での共同経済活動の一環。当初、択捉島には１、２両日滞在の予定だったが、天候悪化のため日程を短縮した。
　現地でトラブルが起きないよう、ツアー参加者は非公式に募集した。日本側は今回のツアーで課題を洗い出し、来春以降の本格的な観光ツアーの実現につなげたい考えだ。（2019/11/02-15:06）

A group of 44 Japanese people returned to Hokkaido after a sightseeing tour to two of the four Russian-held islands at the center of the two nations' decades-old territorial row.
   After visiting Kunashiri and Etorofu in the northwestern Pacific in the first sightseeing tour for Japanese citizens, the group arrived at the Port of Nemuro in Hokkaido on Saturday.
   During the trial tour, the participants stayed on Kunashiri for two days from Wednesday to visit a museum and graves of Japanese people.
   On Friday, they visited Etorofu, the largest of the four isles, for two hours. Originally, the participants were scheduled to stay on the island for two days from Friday, but the stay was shortened due to bad weather.
   "I had a rare experience. Russians were very friendly and gave me a good impression," said Mamoru Takahashi, 79.
