丸山島根知事、聖火リレー中止を検討　コロナ対応批判、１カ月程度で判断

　島根県の丸山達也知事は１７日、県内で５月に予定されている東京五輪・パラリンピックの聖火リレーの中止を検討していると表明した。丸山氏は、政府や東京都の新型コロナウイルス対応を批判。聖火リレーが３月２５日に福島県から始まることを念頭に「状況の推移を１カ月程度見て、改めて（実施の可否を）判断したい」と述べた。
　丸山氏は県庁で開かれた聖火リレーの実行委員会で方針を表明。会合後記者団に、東京五輪について「現在の状況では開催すべきではない」と強調し、都が感染経路を追跡する「積極的疫学調査」の縮小を決めたことなどを理由に挙げた。　
　島根県内の感染状況は比較的落ち着いているが、丸山氏は県内事業者の経営状況は緊急事態宣言の対象地域と同様に厳しいと指摘。政府の財政支援は十分ではないとして、「今のような政府の感染拡大地域と非拡大地域に対する著しい格差を当然とするような姿勢が続くようであれば、許容できない」と訴えた。
　聖火リレーの実施について、県は大会組織委員会と協定を結んでおり、県は交通誘導など２０２１年度に７２００万円の予算を負担する。丸山氏は中止する場合、協定の解除も視野に入れていると明らかにした。
　島根県の聖火リレーは５月１５、１６日で、ランナー約１７０人が走る計画。県によると、既にランナーから問い合わせがあり、近く現状を説明する方向で検討しているという。（2021/02/17-17:01）

Shimane Governor Tatsuya Maruyama said Wednesday he is considering canceling the Olympic torch relay in the western Japan prefecture, slated for May, citing poor handling of the coronavirus crisis in the country.
   "Steps necessary to hold the torch relay haven't been taken, given the severe situation that Shimane is facing," Maruyama said, criticizing the work of the Tokyo metropolitan government and the central government.
   The torch relay will start on March 25, with all of Japan's 47 prefectures falling within the route. Some 170 torchbearers are slated to carry the flame within Shimane on May 15-16.
   Maruyama said that whether to conduct the relay in Shimane will be decided after monitoring how the situation unfolds.
   The governor made the remarks in a meeting of a prefectural committee for the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, which were postponed by a year to this summer due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
