変異種、新たに女性感染　英から帰国、初の検疫すり抜け―新型コロナ

　厚生労働省は２７日、新型コロナウイルスに感染した英国滞在歴のある５０代女性から、英国で流行しているのと同様の変異種が確認されたと発表した。国内での変異種感染者は８人目。帰国時の検疫では陰性だったが、その後陽性が分かったという。検疫をすり抜けて変異種感染が確認されたケースは初めてとなる。
　厚労省によると、新たに感染が分かった女性は東京都在住で、１３日に英国から羽田空港に帰国。１９日に微熱や喉の痛みを訴え医療機関を受診し、２２日に入院した。帰国後、公共交通機関は利用しておらず、帰国から入院までは宿泊施設に待機した。不特定多数との接触はなく、濃厚接触者もいない。これまでの７人とは無関係という。
　記者説明会に臨んだ脇田隆字・国立感染症研究所長は「感染力が強い変異種の感染者が国内で増えれば重症者も増える。現在、変異種を迅速に診断できる手法の開発も進めているが、なるべく流入を防ぐことが必要だ」と話した。
　空港検疫では、ウイルス特有のたんぱく質（抗原）を調べる抗原定量検査が実施されている。厚労省の担当者は「感染初期は抗原量が上がっていないので、（陽性でも）結果が陰性になってしまうことがある。そのために、帰国後２週間の自宅などでの待機をお願いしている。今回はこの制度が効いたケースだと理解している」と説明した。（2020/12/27-23:03）

Japan Confirms 8th Coronavirus Variant Case

The health ministry Sunday reported the eighth case of infection with a coronavirus variant found in Japan.
   The variant, similar to the one spreading in Britain, was found in a Tokyo resident in her 50s who recently returned from the European country.
   She is the first case of the variant that passed through airport screening undetected in Japan.
   She arrived at Tokyo International Airport at Haneda on Dec. 13 after staying in Britain. She was judged negative for the novel coronavirus through airport quarantine screening.
   But she turned out positive after developing a mild fever and a sore throat and visiting a medical institution Dec. 19. She was admitted to hospital Tuesday.
