変異種、検疫以外で初確認　英から帰国の機長と家族―新型コロナ

　厚生労働省は２６日、英国から帰国後に新型コロナウイルス感染が判明した３０代男性パイロットから、コロナの変異種が確認されたと発表した。英国で感染拡大しているのと同様の変異種で、家族の２０代女性からも確認された。空港検疫以外での変異種確認は初めてで、厚労省や国立感染症研究所がウイルスの構造などを調べている。男性は機長であり、検疫が不要だった。
　変異種への感染は、国内では空港検疫で１０歳未満～６０代の男女５人が確認されており、男性機長と家族の女性は６、７人目となる。女性は英国の滞在歴はなく、男性から感染したとみられ、厚労省は変異種が人から人に移った初のケースとみている。
　厚労省や関係者によると、変異種への感染が確認された男性機長と家族の女性は東京都在住で、いずれも都内の医療機関に入院している。
　男性は１６日に帰国し、自宅で過ごしていた。厚労省によると、機長などは航空会社の責任で、外国滞在時の行動制限や帰国後の健康観察などを条件に検疫を受ける必要がなく、男性も受けていなかった。同省幹部は「今回の変異種感染は特殊なケース」としている。
　男性は２１日にせきや頭痛の症状が出て医療機関を受診し、陽性と判明。女性は２３日に男性と同様の症状を訴えて医療機関を受診していた。２人とも不特定多数との接触はない。
　２人の濃厚接触者は計３人。１人はＰＣＲ検査で陰性になった。厚労省は残る２人について、検査を受けているかなどを調べている。
　世界保健機関（ＷＨＯ）によると、英国の変異種は従来種よりも感染力が最大７割強いとされる。重症度やワクチンの有効性に影響を与える証拠は見つかっていない。（2020/12/26-22:26）

Japan has detected a coronavirus variant from a person who recently returned from Britain for the first time outside its airport screening system, informed sources said Saturday.
   The variant, similar to the highly transmissible one spreading in Britain, was found from a pilot in his 30s who lives in Tokyo and a member of his family in her 20s, the sources said.
   The two are hospitalized. The pilot returned to Japan on Dec. 16 and visited a medical institution on Monday after developing symptoms such as coughing and headache.
   He was confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus in a polymerase chain reaction test.
   The health ministry and the National Institute of Infectious Diseases are investigating details, including the structure of the virus and the degree of its infectiousness.
