日鉄、高炉１基再稼働　自動車の需要回復―来年１月

　日本製鉄は４日、東日本製鉄所鹿島地区（茨城県鹿嶋市）の第１高炉を来年１月下旬をめどに再稼働すると発表した。自動車を中心に鋼材の需要が回復しているため。再稼働すれば国内生産能力が９割程度まで回復する見通し。
　鹿島地区第１高炉は新型コロナウイルスの感染拡大による需要減少を受け、今年４月中旬から一時休止していた。（2020/12/04-12:12）

Nippon Steel to Restart Blast Furnace in Eastern Japan

Japan's Nippon Steel Corp. said Friday that it will restart a blast furnace in Kashima, Ibaraki Prefecture, eastern Japan, in late January next year, in response to a recovery in steel demand, mainly from the automobile industry.
With the resumption of operations at the No. 1 blast furnace in the Kashima Area of the company's East Nippon Works, the operating rate for Nippon Steel's steelworks in the country is expected to recover to some 90 pct of its total domestic capacity.
