東京五輪、観客入り開催へ連携　菅首相とバッハＩＯＣ会長

　菅義偉首相は１６日午前、来日中の国際オリンピック委員会（ＩＯＣ）のバッハ会長と首相官邸で会談した。来年夏に延期された東京五輪・パラリンピックについて、観客を入れた形での開催実現に向け、緊密に連携していくことで一致。バッハ会長は「東京大会を必ず実現し、成功させる」と述べた。
　首相は会談で「人類がウイルスに打ち勝った証しとして、また東日本大震災から復興しつつある姿を世界に発信する復興五輪・パラリンピックとして東京大会の開催を実現する決意だ」と表明。新型コロナウイルスの感染拡大を踏まえ、安心・安全な大会の実現を目指し、バッハ会長と緊密に連携する意向を示した。
　これに対し、バッハ会長は「今回開かれる大会はコロナ後の世界で人類の連帯と結束力を表すシンボルとなるものだ」と指摘。「（開催への）決意、コミットメントを持っている皆さん方が努力している中、われわれは日本の側に立つ」と述べ、日本の取り組みを支持した。
　両氏は新型コロナ対策について意見交換。首相は「東京大会では観客の参加を想定したさまざまな検討を進めている」と説明した。この後、バッハ会長は記者団に「スタジアムに観客を入れることに関して確信を持つことができた」と述べた。
　菅政権の発足後、両氏は電話で協議したが、直接顔を合わせるのはこれが初めて。（2020/11/16-13:14）

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga and visiting International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach agreed Monday to closely cooperate to realize the postponed Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics with spectators next summer.
   In his talks with Suga at the prime minister's office in Tokyo, Bach expressed his determination to make the Tokyo Games a success.
   Suga declared his resolution to hold the Tokyo Games "as a testament to humanity's victory over the novel coronavirus and to showcase to the world the reconstruction of Japanese regions hit hard by the March 2011 major earthquake and tsunami."
   He pledged to work together with Bach for safe and secure Tokyo Games as the novel coronavirus is still raging around the world.
   Bach replied that the games will symbolize humanity's solidarity in a post-COVID world, expressing the IOC's readiness to stand by Japan's side at a time when many people are working hard, determined and committed to hold the huge sports events.
