日鉄、米２工場の売却検討　国内外で拠点再編

　日本製鉄が自動車向け鋼材を生産する米インディアナ州の２工場について、売却を検討していることが１４日、分かった。新型コロナウイルス感染拡大の影響で鉄鋼需要が減少する中、国内外で老朽化した生産拠点を再編し、収益改善を図る。
　２工場はともに設立から約３０年が経過している。鉄鋼世界最大手アルセロール・ミッタル（ルクセンブルク）との合弁会社を通じて共同運営しており、日鉄の出資比率は４～５割。アルセロール社は９月、株式の持ち分を米鉄鋼メーカーのクリーブランド・クリフスに売却すると発表していた。（2020/10/14-12:15）

Japan's Nippon Steel Corp. is considering selling two plants in the U.S. state of Indiana that produce steel for automobiles, informed sources said Wednesday.
The move is part of the company's efforts to reorganize its aging production bases in Japan and abroad with the aim of improving its profitability at a time when demand for steel is dwindling amid the coronavirus pandemic, according to the sources.
